In India, teenage girls face down Islamic traditions with a basketball

India, the world's largest democracy, has no law prohibiting females playing sports. However, just as dowries, illegal for years are still found, tradition also exerts a strong influence keeping women and girls from playing sports. The National Basketball Association renovated a court in Mambai and females began playing in the newly upgraded court. Even though some of the best players are female, community leaders disapprove of women participating. But some fathers of girls are bucking tradition.
