From the time it was a colony, Pennsylvania has prohibited hunting on the Lord's Day. Now the National Rifle Association is lobbying to lift the ban against Sunday hunting. Birdwatchers and hikers support continuing the prohibition of Sunday hunting stating "they want one day a week of bullet-free passage through Pennsylvania." Some hunters support the ban because "the wild critters . . . need a day of rest as well." The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, a powerful lobby group representing farmers, also supports the ban for religious and other reasons.
